Regulation 18 Local Plan Consultation 2025 - Breckland Council

Updated 25/09/25 - Click Link for Harling Parish Councils response to Local Plan call for sites to  Breckland Council -

The Parish Council would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who attended our drop-in session on Saturday to view the proposed development sites put forward through Breckland Council’s recent Call for Sites. Your attendance and engagement were greatly appreciated, and it was encouraging to see so many members of our community taking the time to share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns about the future of our village.

We hope that those who came along found the session informative and productive. As a Parish Council, we are working with only a limited amount of information at this early stage, and we shared everything we currently know as openly and clearly as possible. We understand that this process can sometimes feel frustrating, especially when details are sparse, but please be assured that as more information becomes available, we will *keep the community updated every step of the way..

Why This Matters

Like many areas across the country, we are facing increasing pressure for new development. While this can feel daunting, development is inevitable to some degree. What is crucial is that we, as a community, remain proactive and involved in shaping how this happens.

By engaging early in the process, we have the opportunity to influence:

* The location and type of development, ensuring it fits our village’s needs and character.

* The facilities and infrastructure provided, such as improvements to roads, green spaces, play areas, and community buildings.

* The funding contributions that developers are required to make, helping to support services and amenities that benefit everyone.

Our collective goal should be to secure the best possible outcomes for our village, making it more sustainable and resilient for current residents and future generations.

How You Can Have Your Say

If you were unable to attend the session or would like to provide further feedback, you can submit your comments directly to Breckland Council

*Email: [planning.policyteam@brecklandcouncil.gov.uk]

Please send your comments as soon as possible to ensure your views are considered at this early stage.

Your input is incredibly important and will help shape the decisions being made.

Next Steps for the Parish Council

The Parish Council will now begin forming its own formal response to the proposed sites. This will involve:

* Reviewing all comments raised by residents.

* Considering the potential impact on housing, traffic, schools, healthcare, and community facilities.

* Engaging in constructive discussions to reflect the wishes of the majority of the community

We will approach this in a measured and transparent way, guided by our Code of Conduct, and will continue to share updates with you as soon as further details emerge.

Our aim is to represent the community’s voice effectively and to ensure that any future development brings genuine benefits rather than challenges for our village.

We recognise that conversations about development can be difficult, especially when there are strong feelings on all sides. However, by staying informed, engaged, and respectful, we can work together to achieve the best possible outcome

Thank you once again for your continued support and involvement. Your feedback and participation are vital in helping us protect what we value most about our village while planning for a sustainable and thriving future.
